Interactions – Session 4
Ageing and housing in the city: accessibility and inclusiveness
Housing is a fundamental component of the social inclusion process. The right to adequate housing is included in all fundamental documents. However, there are still difficulties with the full consignment of this right, as yet, and mainly, it is verified that the existing housing do not meet the needs of people with mobility reduction, or in a situation of dependence and home care needs. Housing, as a place where we want to live most of our lives, has to be accessible, affordable and suitable for providing care throughout the life cycle, particularly in old age. In the fourth session of the InterActions Symposium, we will refocus the house in the context of public policies for inclusion, discussing its repositioning as a center of care throughout the life cycle.
