In this talk, Sofia Martins shares her journey as a traveller with reduced mobility and founder of JustGo by Sofia, a blog dedicated to accessible tourism. Through her experiences in Portugal and around the world, she demonstrates how travel can be a force for inclusion, change and inspiration. She discusses the real challenges of accessibility and how each journey can contribute to changing mindsets and building a fairer and more accessible tourism industry for everyone. A conversation about challenges, overcoming barriers, purpose, and the power of sharing experiences in the creation of a more accessible world.

 

Biographical note

Sofia Martins is the author of the blog JustGo by Sofia, a project dedicated to promoting accessible tourism and building a more inclusive world. As a wheelchair user, she has turned the challenges she faces whilst travelling into a mission to raise awareness of accessibility and equal opportunities. She has visited over 40 countries and realised her dream of travelling round the world, demonstrating that travel is possible for everyone. Through her blog, talks and the podcast ‘Viajar é para Todos’ (Travel is for Everyone), she shares her experiences, inspires others to travel and challenges destinations and organisations to become more accessible. She believes that the world belongs to everyone and should be experienced by everyone.
