Bagua: reading life through space

As part of the ‘On the China Route’ programme, this lecture invites reflection on the Bagua, an expression of classical Chinese thought whose relevance endures in the West in the 21st century. Developed thousands of years ago, this conceptual system offers a symbolic interpretation of the cycle of life, which can also be applied to lived spaces. Drawing on its cultural and philosophical context, the talk will explore how this framework remains relevant today as a tool for understanding and self-discovery through the home. A meeting of tradition and modernity, where space is understood as an element of connection and an expression of life.
