Centro Social de São Boaventura
The Centro Social de São Boaventura is located in the Bairro Alto, in an 18th-century palace donated to SCML in 1906 by Carolina Augusta Paiva de Andrade, to house the "Instituto Luísa Paiva de Andrade", in memory of her daughter Luísa, who died of tuberculosis at the age of 22.
This space currently houses an intergenerational centre for young people and older adults, with a day centre, a play area and a café.
The Pombaline urban townhouse, with a U-shaped plan, is arranged around a central courtyard, with two-floor façades separated by a frieze.
The first floor features doors with straight lintels and sill windows; the second has French windows with iron railings. The interior has a rectangular central vestibule, with side distribution corridors and, directly opposite, the staircase leading to the noble floor. There, the various rooms feature revivalist decoration with stucco or wooden ceilings, painted in various styles.
The outdoor area and the magnificent grand hall stand out.
