The Recolhimento da Encarnação is a Baroque convent located in Largo do Convento da Encarnação, in the Arroios parish, classified as a Property of Public Interest.

Its origins date back to the 17th century, the reign of Philip II of Portugal, following the testamentary disposition of Infanta D. Maria, daughter of King Manuel, to establish a convent for nuns of the Order of São Bento de Avis, which ended up belonging to the military rather than monastic order, dedicated to Our Lady of the Incarnation.

After a fire in 1734, it underwent a series of interventions and, following the 1755 earthquake, the original Philippine complex was substantially altered.

With the dissolution of the religious orders, the convent was not sold but went through many functional adaptations, having been turned into the Recolhimento da Encarnação, which later joined the Recolhimentos da Capital.
