Primary healthcare

We currently have four functional health units operating in the field of primary and outpatient healthcare, with a community-based approach. They are organised according to Santa Casa's geographical catchment area, spread across the parishes of the city of Lisbon.

In these units we deliver a multidisciplinary approach for a range of audiences (children, young people, adults and older adults) and offer a wide range of medical specialties. These units also provide access to other health responses supported by Misericórdia de Lisboa — such as Hospital da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa or the Chelas Clinic — via prior referral from the Santa Casa attending doctor.

In addition to healthcare in General and Family Medicine, we offer specialist services in Mental Health, Oral Health, Stomatology, Paediatrics, Nutrition, Multiple Disabilities (residential care), and a specific programme called GPS – Health Project Management, which develops community intervention projects together with the health units, generating knowledge and replicating best practices.
