The 7th edition of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa Merit Award will recognise 68 children and young people from the organisation’s facilities for their commitment and dedication throughout the last academic year.

The Merit Award ceremony took place on Thursday 18 June at the Convent of São Pedro de Alcântara, and the awards were presented by Rita Prates, Deputy Ombudsman of Santa Casa, Luís Rego, administrator of Misericórdia de Lisboa, and António Santinha, director of the Empowerment Support Unit within the Directorate for Children, Young People and Families.

The children and young people, aged between 6 and 20, were rewarded with group trips. The first, aimed at the youngest participants, will take place from 8 to 11 July and will take 32 children to the town of Fronteira. The second trip will take place from 1 to 5 September and will take 36 young people to the Caminitos del Rei in Andalusia.

This year’s trips are themed ‘In the Mind of Sherlock Holmes’ and will feature various discovery-based challenges for participants, in a spirit of fun and teamwork.
