A museum housed in the former Palácio Portugal da Gama, a 17th-century building that has been restored and converted into a museum to publicly display the collection of Asian art that Francisco Capelo assembled over a period of more than 20 years. Comprising around 1,300 objects, it encompasses a wide variety of works of art from various regions of Asia, dating from the 3rd century BC to the early 20th century, with pieces from fourteen Asian countries: India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, East Timor and the Philippines.
