Jogos Santa Casa will showcase the causes they support during the Volta a Portugal
The competition’s main sponsor was unveiled; its yellow shirt will feature, at each stage, a social cause supported by the proceeds from the charity matches.

Jogos Santa Casa is the main sponsor of the 87th Volta a Portugal, which will take place between 5 and 16 August. The sponsorship was unveiled this Wednesday, 1 July, at a ceremony in the Sala de Extrações at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, during which the yellow jersey was revealed; this year, it will showcase some of the good causes supported by the proceeds from the state’s social lotteries.
As well as bearing the name ‘Jogos Santa Casa’ on the front, the yellow jersey will feature small changes at each stage, showcasing social causes supported by the proceeds from the Jogos Santa Casa, as part of the campaign “When a Portuguese person plays, two or three people win straight away”.
For Paulo Sousa, Provedor of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, who was accompanied at the ceremony by Vice-Provedora Rita Prates, “Volta a Portugal is a benchmark” amongst the Portuguese people, which is why the support from the Jogos Santa Casa makes perfect sense.
“It unites generations around values such as effort, dedication and the desire to go further,” emphasised the Provedor, making it “the ideal vehicle for highlighting the importance of the support that the Jogos Santa Casa provide to many Portuguese people in a wide range of areas”.
For his part, Cândido Barbosa, president of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, noted that “the Jogos Santa Casa have placed their trust in the new organisation and reinforced that support”, with Santa Casa being “the right partner given its social impact in our country”, a view also shared by Ezequiel Mosquera, race director.
The route for the 87th Volta a Portugal, as well as further details about this year’s edition, will be announced on 8 July.
