Synopsis

As part of the ‘On the China Route’ programme, this lecture invites reflection on the Bagua, an expression of classical Chinese thought whose relevance endures in the West in the 21st century. Developed thousands of years ago, this conceptual system offers a symbolic interpretation of the cycle of life, which can also be applied to the living environment. Drawing on its cultural and philosophical context, the lecture will explore how this framework remains relevant today as a tool for interpretation and self-knowledge through the home. A meeting of tradition and modernity, where space is understood as an element of connection and an expression of life.

Biographical note

Teresa Borges de Sousa developed an interest from an early age in what lies beneath the surface, embarking on a journey linked to self-knowledge and an understanding of life. She studied Feng Shui at the National School of Feng Shui and at the Macrobiotic Institute, where she later taught Feng Shui and Eastern astrology. At the same time, she built a professional career spanning more than three decades in the business world. Her ongoing relationship with space and homes has, more recently, led her into the property market, where she brings together different perspectives in the analysis of lived space.
