Applications will be open until 30 September and cover the 2026/2027 academic year. Designed to enhance the academic qualifications of Olympic, Paralympic, Deaflympic and university athletes, the programme is run in partnership with the Portuguese Olympic Committee, the Portuguese Paralympic Committee and the Academic Federation for University Sport, the bodies responsible for managing the application, assessment and award processes for the scholarships.

Athletes and student-athletes aged 18 or over may apply, provided they are enrolled on recognised undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, postgraduate or technical and vocational training courses, and are part of the sporting projects defined by each partner organisation.

Applications require the completion of the specific form provided by the COP, CPP or FADU, as well as the submission of the documentation specified in the respective regulations. The value of the grants varies depending on the responsible body and the mode of study, and may reach 3,000 euros in the case of full-time bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programmes, and amounts ranging from 800 to 1,500 euros for university student-athletes supported by FADU.

The selection of applications is based on a joint assessment of academic and sporting merit, in accordance with the specific criteria set out in each set of regulations. The scholarship is not automatically renewed; a new application must be submitted for each round, and each student-athlete may only receive one scholarship per academic year.

With this new edition of IMPULSO, Santa Casa continues its Compromisso to promote education, talent and sporting excellence, contributing to the all-round development of Portuguese athletes and to the promotion of higher education as a cornerstone of their careers.
