The 1st ‘Lisboa Com Vida’ event, dedicated to longevity and social cohesion, is coming up
The 1st ‘Lisboa Com Vida’ Conference will take place on 12 October at the Fórum Lisboa – Casa da Cidadania, bringing together public and private bodies, academia and social sector organisations for a day dedicated to the challenges of longevity in the city.

The initiative forms part of Older People’s Month and reinforces the Compromisso of the ‘Lisbon Full of Life for All Ages’ Programme to policies promoting community engagement, community participation and dignified ageing.
The opening session will be led by the Provedor of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, Paulo Sousa, who will outline the institution’s strategic role in promoting a more cohesive city that is better prepared for all ages. The opening ceremony will also feature representatives from the Social Security Institute, the National Health Service, the Public Security Police, NOVA Medical School, the Patriarchate of Lisbon and Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, underlining the importance of inter-institutional cooperation.
The programme includes two keynote lectures:
‘Cities of Longevity’, by Maria João Valente Rosa; and ‘Loneliness and Social Isolation’, by Stella Bettencourt da Câmara. In the afternoon, there will be a panel session dedicated to the presentation of projects and best practices developed within the framework of the KORALE Community of Practice, an Interreg Europe initiative co-funded by the European Union. Representatives from Santa Casa, the Alegria de Viver Association, the ‘Sempre Acompanhados’ Programme, the SCML Senior Universities, the Coração Amarelo Association, amongst other organisations, will be present, highlighting innovative responses to ageing and social isolation.
One of the key moments will be the formalisation of the Addendum to the Cooperation Protocol of the ‘Lisboa Com Vida’ Programme, which aims to strengthen coordination between strategic partners. The Letter of Compromisso for the City of Lisbon’s Social RADAR will also be signed; this is a collaborative tool designed to improve the identification and support of people in situations of vulnerability or isolation.
The closing session will feature presentations by Santa Casa and Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, reaffirming their joint commitment to a more inclusive Lisbon that is prepared for longevity.
