Centro Condessa de Rilvas
The Centro Condessa de Rilvas is a Santa Casa facility encompassing two social responses for adults with disabilities, namely the Centro de Atividades Ocupacionais and the Centro Residencial Condessa de Rilvas.
While the first facility aims at personal development and the integration of people with disabilities or multiple disabilities — supporting the development of their abilities without performance requirements or labour-related obligations — the second is intended for medium and long-term residential care of male children, young people and adults who are temporarily or permanently unable to live within their family environment, with a view to guaranteeing and promoting their rights.
Founded in 1917 as the Associação Protetora das Florinhas da Rua at the Campo dos Mártires da Pátria to protect poor and orphaned girls, it later took in children with special needs and became the Instituto Médico-Pedagógico Condessa de Rilvas.
It offers a large outdoor area in the centre of the city, with sports facilities and parking.
