SOCIAL SERVICES
Social services and support target individuals and families to minimize and/or resolve vulnerability. Generalist and support teams assist first-time cases. Services include Bolsa Família (Family Allowance), Santa Casa Health Card, Food Assistance, and Funeral Services.
This intervention is individualized, but it considers the collective dimension of the individual. Knowledge and in-depth assessment of the local community are an added value and a key condition for more consistent intervention by Misericórdia de Lisboa, allowing for greater responsiveness to the emergence of new populations.
Access services in person or by phone to book an appointment. Urgent social services are available every day from staff at service locations.
EQUIPMENTS
Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa organizes its facilities by Proximity Development and Intervention Units (UDIP) based on geographic areas.

The proposal to grant the health card is the responsibility of the institution’s Social Assistance and Health services.

The Portuguese Red Cross coordinates the Operational Program to Support the Most Deprived People (POAPMC). It combats poverty and social exclusion with help from the European Social Fund’s aid in Portugal. The program reduces the vulnerability that threatens the integration of the most vulnerable people. It offers non-financial assistance, distributes food, and promotes social inclusion through activities such as nutrition support and family budget management.
Access Conditions
Individuals and families in economic hardship, per Social Security Institute criteria, may apply for POAPMC support.
To clarify questions about POAPMC, please contact your parish’s territorial unit (UDIP) for assistance.
